Shaded Fullbody Walkthrough by nightIights Shaded Fullbody Walkthrough by nightIights
Warning Epic huge file.

Some of you wanted to know how I do my fullbodies. O:
So here you go, hope it's at least a tad helpful even though I don't make much sense, and keep in mind it's a walkthrough, not a tutorial. I'm just showing you the steps. Puhlease use it for reference for your own drawings and not a chance for you to copy. ;n;

I won't share the filters I use to 'soften' the drawings, sorry. ;n;
But the brush I use for lining and sketching is the default marker tool with a few settings adjusted. (among those are the blending and persistence settings that I dragged all the way down to 0 because I don't want the lines to blend with the white underneath. I forgot the rest.)
I use the default pen tool for coloring and shading. Except for the times where I need soft coloring.
I normally use size 3.5 for the lines at 500x500px, and 2-3 (usually 2.6) for the details.

This is a commission for samiesaurus

Examples of fullbody stuff I draw.

Really nice to see your process, using a lighter colour to ketch is a good idea =0 <3

You use the marker tool? As in, Sai's marker tool?
I remember that you have a Mac correct?
Because if you do have a Mac, and you are using Sai on it, you must teach me your ways. ;A;
Just curious, haha.
But lovely walkthrough!

I use my friend's laptop (windows 7) for drawing so I can use SAI there. My own laptop I use for school and such is a macbook.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents here.
Now, I really like your linework, but I have a suggestion on the shading.

If you're going to shade with a single color, try using a "multiply layer". If you do that, you can quickly alter the transparency and hue/saturation of the shading layer and essentially change the entire mood of the image on the fly. It will also blend better with the base colors and adjust to whatever is underneath.

I use the multiply layer mode.
